At NAB 2016 Sony have announced new firmware upgrades for some of their handycams.
For the popular PXW-X70 camera, they’ll reach v3.0 on the firmware, some time at the end of June 2016. The big news here is live-shot friendly MPEG HD422 and streaming out of camera.
- Support for XAVC QFHD 4K 100Mbps (3840x2160) at 30p/25p/24p
- MPEG HD422 50Mbps (1920x1080) at 50i/25p/24p and (1280x720) at 50p. For XAVC QFHD 4K recordings, the PXW-X70 also requires the paid-for upgrade CBKZ-X70FX software key.
- QoS Streaming to the PWS-100RX1
- Direct streaming to USTREAM
For the PXW-X200 we’ll get firmware v2.2 some time this month. It offers:
- SDXC card compatibility
- MPEG2 simultaneous recording
- HiRes/Proxy trim and transfer (with content browser mobile)
And for the PMW-300K1, the firmware goes to v1.5, also available this month.
