IBC 2018: Sony showcased four new live production cameras

At IBC 2018, Sony is unveiled four new live production system cameras, further expanding and evolving the Sony HDC family well-acclaimed by broadcasters and media companies across the globe. The next generation of system cameras (HDC-P50, HDC-3500) feature the worlds first 2/3-inch 4K global shutter three CMOS sensor system, and a newly developed HD HDR optical block (HDC-3100/HDC-3170). The new cameras offer content creators unprecedented flexibility and reliability, in addition to the uncompromised, premium 4K/HD HDR picture quality they have come to expect from Sony solutions.

     
     
 
Calrec has done the thinking, so you can do it on Impulse

At IBC 2018 Calrec unveiled its new Impulse core, the next generation audio processing platform. The Impulse core is a very powerful audio processing and routing engine with AES67 and SMPTE 2110 connectivity. The Impulse core is compatible with existing Apollo and Artemis control surfaces, providing a simple upgrade path for existing Calrec customers.

     
     
 
NewTek celebrates NDIs third anniversary

Hard to believe that it is three years since NewTek first announced its Video over IP network technology, NDI, at IBC2015. As Brian Olson, the companys VP Product Management says though, it is only going from strength to strength with v3.7.

     
     
 
Cinegy helps Globecast to launch Virgin TV Ultra HD first UHD/4K Entertainment Channel in UK

Virgin Media has partnered with Globecast to launch the UK's first dedicated 4K UHD entertainment channel, Virgin TV Ultra HD. Cinegys broadcast playout engine, Cinegy Air PRO, is used to allow the building of the Channel in the Cloud clearly showing the benefits of cloud technologies in being able to launch a complete service in a fraction of the time it would have taken traditionally.

     
     
 
AJA Unveils FS-HDR v2.6 Update at IBC 2018

AJA Video Systems announced v2.6 firmware/software for the FS-HDR real time HDR/WCG Converter with Colorfront Engine video processing. ChyronHego launched Vidigo News, an all-in-one newsroom production solution designed specifically for OTT content creation and publishing. Sony unveils new 4K HDR reference monitor and launches TRIMASTER HX brand

At IBC 2018, Sony announced a new 31-inch Grade 1 reference monitor, the BVM-HX310, which offers accurate colour reproduction and high-contrast performance to provide professional content creatives the assurance in critical picture decisions. The BVM-HX310 reference monitor reproduces 4K HDR content of up to 1,000 nits brightness with a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1. The launch of the new reference monitor also marks the introduction of Sonys new technology brand TRIMASTER HX.

     
     
 
RTW Launches New Speech Intelligibility Tech

Audio meter and monitoring device developer RTW will unveil its new speech intelligibility technology at IBC 2018 that provides real-time analysis of speech intelligibility in film and TV dialogue. The technology was developed in partnership with the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology IDMT in Oldenburg and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi).

     
     
 
Canon launches 'world's widest angle' 4K lens

Canon has announced their flagship field zoom broadcast lens, the UHD DIGISUPER 122. Which Canon claims, can deliver the worlds widest angle and worlds longest focal length 8.2 mm at the wide end and 1000 mm at the telephoto end (2000mm with the 2x extender). It also has the worlds highest zoom ratio of 122x. The UHD Digisuper 122, can achieve the worlds widest angle, the worlds longest focal length, and the worlds highest zoom ratio among field zoom lenses for 4K broadcast cameras employing 2/3-inch sensors (as of September 12, 2018, based on a Canon survey).

     
     
 
Lectrosonics Introduces SPDR Stereo Portable Digital Recorder

Lectrosonics has introduced the new stereo version of its PDR micro digital recorder, the SPDR (Stereo Portable Digital Recorder). The unit captures to Micro SDHC card in Broadcast Wave Format with 24 bit depth and sample rates of 48 kHz or 96 kHz.
