Digital Studio speaks to TVU Networks CEO Paul Shen about their NAB 2018 experience.
Digital Studio: What products and technologies did you focus on at this year’s NAB show?
TVU was founded 12 years ago with our now well known, multiple award winning, IP based solution TVU One. This mobile solution acquires video content from any locations, in real time, for live broadcast. While upgrading our TVU One to a smaller and more powerful device, our NAB 2018 mainly focused on making the remaining part of our customers workflow more efficient. This included remote production, distribution and live streaming of video content, as well as an AI based solution that covers the complete broadcaster workflow from story creation to distribution, named TVU MediaMind.
In addition, we introduced the award-winning TVU Nano Router, which delivers highly reliable high-speed internet connectivity wherever you go, in the smallest possible device.
DS: What did you hope to achieve at this year’s show?
We hoped to introduce major updates and new features for every aspect of the TVU ecosystem from acquisition and transmission, to production, distribution and management. We’re continually striving for major leaps in the TVU ecosystem of live IP video solutions which are developed based on user feedback. Focused on creating innovative tools that improve customer workflows, we unveiled the next evolution of broadcast workflow technology.
DS: Which are the most important issues facing broadcast clients?
Broadcasters must comply with a growing demand for more sophisticated video content, customized to each individual need, in real time or recorded, whilst also competing directly with OTT content providers. This implies keeping their video acquisition and production costs as low as possible is a priority.
DS: How was your experience at NAB 2018?
TVU MediaMind and TVU Transcriber attracted a lot of attention and were very aligned with this year’s customer needs toward implementing more artificial intelligence into workflows. Our new location right at the entrance of Centre Hall, showcasing AI solutions and our partnership with CNN NewSource, allowed us to register a 21% increase in customer visits outside of North America. A very positive outcome for TVU Networks, indeed.
