Chyron has unveiled version 4.7 of the PRIME Platform, the company's pioneering live production engine, with new tools and enhanced workflows that accelerate graphics design, data binding, and playout for live sports and other fast-paced production environments.
Updated with a powerful data table resource, advanced auto-follow for complex scenes, refined design interfaces, an expanded control panel toolbox, and other UI improvements, PRIME 4.7 makes it easier for sports networks and leagues to leverage large data sets to tell the story of a sporting event.
"PRIME CG possesses an incredible ability to drive graphics automatically via real-time data sources - such as a web API from a sports data provider. In addition, with Prime 4.7 our team wanted to enhance our toolset for users to easily manage large, static, offline data sets," said Nikole McStanley, Product Portfolio Director of PRIME at Chyron. "Alongside the improvements to the design UI and control panel creation tools, version 4.7 makes it possible to import, create, and manage large spreadsheets of data entirely within PRIME and effortlessly translate those into bespoke graphics."
The PRIME Platform's new data table resource is the highlight feature of version 4.7. This native table allows for dynamic entry of data, as well as CSV import. PRIME will automatically recognize and configure data types in each column — even providing previews of color value info — presenting users with a data table grid that is fully editable in PRIME Designer. From there, users can utilize a new parameters effect to rapidly bind data to a scene at the group level, rather than manually linking each cell to each scene element. Finally, PRIME's table resource is usable as a playout control grid, with users selecting the row of data they want to populate a scene and tabbing-in to the table to make real-time updates to information. The time savings in creating league tables, team rosters, or dynamic player highlight templates in 4.7 is massive.
New additions to PRIME's control panel creation toolbox will speed up operations in the production truck or control room with the ability to create simplified layout interfaces. New appearance and layout properties provide simple formatting of button size, position, and visuals — while a new base-scene control resource enhances a designer's experience for customizing control when working with parent scene graphics. In addition, a new series of shortcut keys for common sports operations such as transferring or clearing all graphics from program to preview adds further efficiency to playout.
PRIME 4.7 brings many improvements for CG designers. An advancement to the auto-follow effect now allows a user to select any objects within their scene to follow any other object both by their position and scale. Thus enabling creation of endlessly adaptable and versatile graphic templates. In the event of urgent edit requests, search results now display within the scene tree hierarchy for quick-access editing. To optimize file sizes for pre-production and post-production, a new region of interest function will crop scenes to a designated area for image and movie file export. Finally, in MOS newsroom workflow with Chyron's CAMIO template management system, PRIME will now pass through XMP data-binding for replaceable scene elements, saving producers manual effort via automatic updates to graphics from image metadata.
Finally, PRIME 4.7 users will find more convenient presentation of status information such as the PRIME engine version, the status of incoming network streams, and conflicts in project parameters and linked scenes that might affect playout.
