Successful deployment of the Rohde & Schwarz THU9evo and R&S TMU9evo transmitters in key cities marks a significant milestone in Paraguay's digital transition.
Unicanal and Trece TV, two of Paraguay's leading broadcasters, have successfully launched digital TV services in three main cities: Encarnación, Ciudad del Este, and Juan O'Leary, utilising Rohde & Schwarz transmission solutions. Each station features two transmitters, one for each broadcaster, ensuring high-quality digital TV signals for the population.
Rohde & Schwarz has been the trusted technology partner for Unicanal and Trece TV since 2021, when the first two THU9evo transmitters were deployed in Asunción-Lambare. The broadcasters selected Rohde & Schwarz again for this expansion due to the exceptional performance, reputation, and quality of its products and services. Key decision drivers included efficiency, operational cost savings, and strong local support with established sales and technical offices in Mexico, Colombia, Peru, and Brazil.
The THU9evo and TMU9evo transmitters have enabled Unicanal and Trece TV to transition to digital TV broadcasting, offering viewers improved signal quality, optimised spectrum usage, and a wider range of services. This, in turn, contributes to improved financial performance for the broadcasters through optimised spectrum usage and reduced operational costs.
"We are delighted to have strengthened our presence in the region with this project, supporting Unicanal and Trece TV in their digital transition," said Silvia Sanz, Regional Sales Director LATAM – Rohde & Schwarz Broadcast Distribution. "Our collaboration demonstrates our commitment to delivering innovative, efficient, and sustainable broadcasting solutions.”
This project marks a significant milestone in Paraguay's digital transition, set to conclude in December 2025, with Unicanal and Trece TV solidifying their position as pioneers in digital TV coverage in Paraguay. Rohde & Schwarz solidifies its South American foothold, now serving two of Paraguay's top three broadcasters, cementing its leadership in the region's growing digital TV landscape.
