RTS Intercom Systems provide seamless IP-based communication in the 165,000-square-foot PGA TOUR Studios media hub.
Located in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, the headquarters of the PGA TOUR, the newly opened 165,000-square-foot PGA TOUR Studios facility is redefining golf media. Designed to centralize production, streamline collaboration and enhance the global viewing experience, the facility relies on RTS Intercom Systems to ensure solid, IP-based communication between on-site production teams and the centralized studio.
The newly deployed fleet of nine state-of-the-art production trucks, built by NEP Group, serves as mobile hubs for live broadcasts from events such as the Farmers Insurance Open and beyond, which support PGA TOUR broadcast partners like CBS, NBC/Golf Channel, and ESPN+. With an IP-based infrastructure (SMPTE ST 2110), the trucks provide greater redundancy, scalability and high-quality production capabilities in 1080p HDR or higher.
With seven production studios, eight control rooms, six editing suites and archives of over 223,000 hours of golf content, the PGA TOUR Studios facility enables rapid collaboration across thousands of miles. RTS’s seamless integration with the SMPTE ST 2110 standard ensures a future-proof communication infrastructure for dynamic workflows.
John Honeycutt, PGA Consultant, emphasizes the importance of vendor collaboration in making this transition successful: “For the PGA TOUR, it came down to selecting partners who understood not only the tasks at hand, but the sheer amount of production needed. Vendors needed to work with the organization to understand technology gaps and, most importantly, work together to ensure all elements were addressed.”
Among nearly a dozen key technology partners - including Apple, AT&T, Cisco, Comcast Business, and Vitec - RTS Intercom Systems played a pivotal role in creating a scalable, flexible infrastructure. With faster production workflows and more dynamic coverage, the PGA TOUR Studios and NEP production fleet are equipped to deliver a richer, more immersive experience to fans worldwide.
