Cinevideo, a leading Italian sport production company, has once again chosen Sony to boost the live production capabilities of its Dolphin-7 HDR 4K/UHD OB van. The addition of Sony’s state-of-the-art HDC-4300 system cameras now allows Cinevideo to capture incredible sporting moments in 4K, HD and super slow motion, depending on broadcasters’ needs.

“Before we decided which camera solutions to choose, we carried out an in-depth review of the options currently available in the market. A key consideration for us was the seamless integration with our existing systems in the OB van, while we also wanted to invest in a solution that is future-proof at the same time. Sony’s HDC-4300 system cameras really ticked all the boxes for us,” explained Andrea Buonomo, Executive Sales Manager at Cinevideo.

During productions and shooting, Sony’s HDC-4300 system cameras offer up to 4K immersive image quality and delivers vivid, realistic images to viewers – putting them at the heart of the action. During live broadcasts, the camera’s advanced optical system, featuring a 2/3 “3-chip 4K image sensor, supports the next-generation ITU-R BT.2020 colour gamut and enables wider colour reproduction.

The OB van, which already boasts Sony’s XVS-8000 video mixer, has also been equipped with a second HDRC-4000 HDR conversion unit that offers real-time conversion of both 4K HDR and HD HDR content, as well as simultaneous real-time streams for multi-purpose 4K HDR live productions. As a result, Cinevideo’s OB van now offers the most advanced end-to-end 4K HDR live production workflow over IP available.

“Cinevideo and the Buonomo family have made themselves a name in the television broadcast services market for the excellent quality of content they produce and the innovative services that they offer. With this investment, their Dolphin-7 OB van has become an agile and high-performance hub, ready for the production of next-generation audio-visual content” commented Benito Mari, Sales Manager Italy at Sony Professional Solutions Europe.

Cinevideo’s new HDC-4300 system cameras will be used as an integral part of a holistic production system that includes existing Sony solutions. The OB van also includes BPU-4500A 4K/HD baseband processor units for IP network production, which can handle 12G-SDI signals as standard, allowing easy integration of 4K/UHD signals into the existing SDI infrastructure without additional hardware costs. Additionally, the HDCU-3100 control units add IP production capabilities to the system cameras and transmit the signal over long distances while maintaining high quality.
