ATEME announced that AMC Networks International Central Europe, a subsidiary of AMC Networks, has selected the ATEME TITAN transcoding solution to improve video quality and optimize connectivity between their video headend and service providers carrying AMC channels. AMC Networks International CE has also deployed the ATEME Kyrion encoder and decoder to set up a contribution link between Prague and Budapest.
TITAN is a virtualized software-based encoder-transcoder designed for Cable, DTH, DTT and OTT. As pure software encoder, it does not make any assumption on the underlying hardware, and can run in any environment, removing infrastructure constraints. This software modularity provides full flexibility for virtualization deployments and service enhancements: any input/output, any CODEC, any resolution, from an encoder to a video headend in a box.
The Kyrion encoder and decoder have been designed for contribution over fiber, OTT and satellite, with advanced features such as ultra-fast-boot. Covering main and multi-screen applications, they offer integrated Automatic Repeat Request (ARQ) to avoid he loss of packets. Kyrion contribution encoders and decoders are future-proof and can now be upgraded with the HEVC codec via a simple software upgrade. Both ATEME products are based on ATEME’s 5th Generation STREAM compression engine, which delivers the highest video quality at minimum bitrates.
“AMC Networks International CE is a renowned premium channel provider: our portfolio includes AMC, Sport1, Sport2, Minimax and other top-quality channels,” said Imre Kiss, Senior Broadcast System Engineer at AMC Networks CE. “As part of our transition to the all-IP COTS-server-based headend, we looked for a software solution with high video quality to support our premium content. ATEME TITAN enables us to meet our CAPEX and OPEX targets, without compromising on video quality.”
“ATEME was selected by AMC Networks International CE also for its interoperability with third-parties’ products and solutions”, said Christophe Deffontaines, Sales Manager at ATEME. “Combined with our global experience in technical deployments, it led to a smooth and seamless integration with AMC Networks International CE’s eco-system, reducing OPEX costs.”
