Canon announced the launch of the UHD-DIGISUPER 27, a high-optical-performance studio zoom lens for 4K broadcast cameras employing 2/3-inch sensors. In addition to achieving a level of resolution surpassing that of 4K from the center to the peripheral areas of image field across the entire zoom range, the UHD-DIGISUPER 27 achieves the same body size and weight as its predecessor, the DIGISUPER 27.
The lens has a 6.5 - 180mm focal length range ideal for such studio productions as news programs and variety shows, supporting the proliferation of 4K content. With the release of this new Canon 4K studio zoom lens, the Company is expanding its 4K broadcast lens lineup to meet the needs of a wide range of industry users.
Optimal lens positioning along with advanced levels of component and body assembly precision helps to minimize the occurrence of aberrations to less than half that of conventional HDTV lenses while the high descriptive power afforded by its excellent color reproduction supports the creation of incredibly immersive visual content. Additionally, the UHD-DIGISUPER 27 employs a built-in 2x extender that allows users to increase the zoom range two-fold – realizing a 360mm focal length at the telephoto end – and even at its increased maximum focal length the lens makes possible superior imaging expression with outstanding resolution performance exceeding that of 4K.
The new Canon UHD-DIGISUPER 27 achieves the same body size and weight as its predecessor and with its new easy-to-hold design facilitates easy installation for enhanced usability. What’s more, because HDTV zoom lens controllers can be used to control the electric zoom and focusing operations, users can make the transition to 4K content creation using systems they are already familiar with.
The Canon UHD-DIGISUPER 27 will go on sale in April 2017.
