Panasonic just released the AG ROP (Remote Operation Panel) app, allowing remote control of the professional AG-DVX200 4K camera recorder from an iPad. Available for download from the Apple App Store, the new app for remote control is distributed, free of charge, to users of the Panasonic AG-DVX200 4K a Micro Four Thirds sensor camera recorder released in September 2015.
The AG-DVX200 is a 4/3-type large-format 4K/60p (the actual frequency rate is 59.94 Hz. At 60p, the resolution is UHD (3840 x 2160)) camera recorder with integrated zoom lens. Its 4/3-type large-format sensor captures stunning images with a shallow focus and attractive Bokeh effect. It also features a wide dynamic range made possible by 12-stop V-Log L processing inherited from the new Varicam Series.
The AG-DVX200 records 4K (4096 x 2160)/24p, 4K (UHD:3840 x 2160)/60p, FHD (1920 x 1080)/60p images at a maximum of 120 fps (frames per second) onto a memory card. It should be noted that a SD card with a capacity of UHS Speed Class 3 (U3) is required to shoot videos with a bit rate of 100 Mbps or higher. An SDXC card with a capacity of 64 GB or more and UHS Speed Class 3 (U3) is required to shoot UHD 2160/59.94p/50.00p videos with a bit rate of 150 Mbps or higher.
The control screen of the AG ROP app displays large numerals and provides upper and lower touch keys for easy understanding and use. The new AG ROP app enables wireless remote control of the AG-DVX200's picture quality adjustment, zoom, focus, and REC start/stop from an iPad. This allows easy touch control with an existing iPad, to further expand the mobility of the AG-DVX200 with crane and jib use compatibility. To use the new app, users need to install a wireless module, AJ-WM30, or ASUS USB-N53, sold separately, on the camera. The firmware in the camera recorder may need to be updated to the newest version. With iPad, iOS7.1, iOS8.1, iOS9 are supported. iPhone is not supported.
The app also displays a thumbnail view and a preview view, so clips (only sub-recording (8 Mbps) of dual codec recording is supported. Other data is not displayed in the thumbnail view.) recorded in dual codec recording mode onto the AG-DVX200's memory card can be displayed as thumbnails and previewed on an iPad. The AG ROP app lets the user check the image while recording.
