As the award-winning drama comes to an end, Netflix has revealed some facts and figures about its impact on the UK's media industry. Netflix has published a special report looking at the cultural, community and economic impact of its award-winning drama, The Crown.
The report reveals that the show created more than 2,610 full-time jobs over 1,400 filming days, with 460 work experience placements over six seasons and around 300 entry-level positions.
Other facts about the show revealed in the report include 2,000 sets were created over the span of the series; a total of 800 original, bespoke costumes were created for the show, and each of the six season took around eight months to plan and film.
The report also states that 190 “green” stewards were used throughout production of The Crown, who helped to ensure the show was environmentally friendly as possible. That included working closely with the electrical department, the locations team and the facilities department to develop innovative ways to reduce energy.
Speaking about the findings, Anne Mensah, vice president of UK Content at Netflix, said: “Over six seasons and 10 years of production, The Crown has delighted viewers the world over. It has sparked conversation and debate, created global stars and supported thousands of jobs for a vast array of British and international crew.
“We are honoured to celebrate the show’s lasting impact with our report The Crown: Behind the Streams. Our hope is that the show lives on through the careers it has shaped, the communities it contributed to and the conversations it started.”
