The Sony CBK-RPU7 acts as a portable 5G video transmission device when attached to a camera. Essentially the CBK-RPU7 is a wireless remote production unit module in the same form factor as the AXS-R7 RAW recorder that is attached to the V-mount plate of a camera.
By leveraging high-speed connectivity (such as 5G) through Networked Live and Sony’s other ecosystem of solutions you can use the CBK-RPU7 for creating high-quality live streaming.
With 5G now becoming more widespread across the world, the ability to transmit larger volumes of data with low latency and stability has become a lot easier.
Using the available bandwidth efficiently is critical when you need to deliver high-quality live images for production.
When coupled with 5G connectivity, the CBK-RPU7 enables a streamlined workflow for connecting remote teams to studios and live production environments by using the NXL-ME80 as a receiver.
Using Sony’s developed codec chip, a wireless camera can have similar performance to wired cameras. The CBK-RPU7 supports a wide range of formats, from HD to 4K 60p/50p 10-bit HDR transmission, which enables pairing with a wide range of cameras. In addition to supporting sports production, it also accommodates DCI 4K, 24p. This makes it suitable for cinema and virtual production remote monitoring.
The CBK-RPU7 not only supports HEVC encoding but also offers a range of features to ensure efficient operations while operators are in remote locations. The bi-direction connectivity enables industry-standard features like tally and return video, and also includes data links for remote camera shading.
The CBK-RPU7 has the following SDI inputs and outputs:
- SDI 1, SDI 4 BNC, 12G/6G/3G (Level-A) /1.5G IN/OUT
- SDI 2, SDI 3 BNC, 3G (Level-A) /1.5G IN/OUT
