Chyron is to showcase innovative functionality across its news production solutions at IBC2023 (Stand 7.A45), with a focus on powerful new data-handling and control capabilities within the PRIME Platform for live production, supporting CG graphics, video walls, touchscreens, clips, branding, and software-based switching.
Chyron also will feature the latest updates to its CAMIO newsroom graphics management solution; AXIS on-demand graphics order management, design, and animation system; PRIME VSAR (virtual sets and augmented reality) production system; and Chyron Weather broadcasting software.
"PRIME and the larger Chyron offering for newsroom production are continually evolving to empower users to engage and inform audiences with compelling stories," said Carol Bettencourt, vice president of marketing at Chyron. "To this end, we've augmented the advanced data-handling capabilities of the PRIME platform while significantly improving user efficiencies and streamlining common workflows. Together these updates give news production teams greater freedom and agility in crafting the visual elements and larger narratives that resonate with their viewers."
PRIME sits at the heart of Chyron's newsroom production offering along with CAMIO for MOS-enabled NRCS integration, which can drive the output of any PRIME graphics module within an NRCS rundown. This unique workflow introduces the efficiency of rundown-driven graphics to rundown-driven video walls, touch screens, switching, and any other PRIME output while ensuring that the CG output, such as a lower third, is coordinated with other studio graphics as a news story unfolds or as the focus shifts to sports, traffic, weather, or another topic. CAMIO also can drive visuals for areas of the set that use a green screen to place presenters in different environments. Newsroom personnel may fulfill PRIME graphics templates with text, as well as add maps, charts, financial data, or composite images, with order management and creation through AXIS.
Visitors to Chyron's IBC2023 stand will see PRIME, CAMIO, and AXIS fully integrated in a complete newsroom solution, as well as a brand-new version of Chyron Weather. Demos on the stand will highlight updates in the most recent PRIME 4.7 and 4.8 releases that bring numerous efficiencies and enhancements to designers, playout operators, and producers.
New efficiencies for design, playout, and newsroom integration in PRIME 4.8 include highly flexible control over replaceable objects in a graphic. In addition to exposing replaceable fields in the playout interface as well as in the MOS-connected NRCS plugin, Data Tables for fulfilling replaceable fields may now be exposed in the NRCS plugin, and auto-population of replaceable fields from Intelligent Interface automation may be enabled or disabled from the NRCS plugin. Another notable new efficiency is the ability to apply the same color-correction Look Up Table files used for video to PRIME graphics.
A more robust auto-follow effect in PRIME now allows users to select any objects within a scene to follow any other object, both by position and scale, enabling the creation of endlessly adaptable graphics templates. For urgent edit requests, search results now display within the scene tree hierarchy for quick-access editing. To optimize file sizes for pre-production and post-production, a new region-of-interest function can crop scenes to a designated area for image and movie file export. In MOS newsroom workflows with Chyron's CAMIO template management system, PRIME now passes through XMP data for replaceable scene elements, saving producers manual effort via automatic fulfillment of a graphic's replaceable fields from image metadata.
Addressing increasing demand for cloud workflows, Chyron works closely with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to develop and leverage cloud-native efficiencies. AXIS and the Chyron LIVE all-in-one cloud-native live production platform are both platformed natively in AWS environments, with other Chyron products available in the cloud as well. Chyron will also be present at IBC2023 on the AWS stand (5.C90) as a vendor of choice for AWS' cloud-based news workflow.
