Open Broadcast Systems is open sourcing its internal PTP and ST-2110 analysis tool as it aims to simplify measurements and fault-finding in facilities. The tool enables multi-day measurements without the need to make large and unwieldy packet captures, said the company.
By supporting multiple network card vendors, the tool also allows for cross-checking results independently.
The tool was developed during the work-from-home portion of the pandemic, meaning it has minimal system requirements and can run on very modest hardware, added the company.
It supports the following functions:
- ST 2110-20 (video) packet arrival time and RTP-PTP offset measurements.
- ST 2110-30 (audio) RTP-PTP offset measurements.
- ST 2022-6 (SDI over IP) first packet arrival time relative to PTP alignment point measurements.
Kieran Kunhya, CEO of Open Broadcast Systems, said: “This simple, but powerful tool has been instrumental in developing support for ST-2110 and ST-2022-6 in our C-200 encoders and decoders as well as troubleshooting several faults in real-world facilities. We hope that open sourcing this tool will push the industry toward greater PTP and timestamp compliance.”
The tool is available to download here.
