eXtended Data in ZEISS CP.3 Lenses – Perfect for VFX

ZEISS unveiled CP.3 and CP.3 XD lines of prime lenses at this year NAB Show. Optically there are the same lenses but XD lenses has one useful feature — eXtended Data (based on Cooke’s /i) technology via inconspicuous Lemo connector. At IBC 2017 we caught up with Sundeep Reddy from ZEISS to discuss the now-ready eXtended Data feature of the new CP.3 XD lenses. So what is eXtended Data, anyway?

What SMPTE-2110 Means for Broadcasters

At last month’s IBC Show, SMPTE announced that three of the main documents in the new series of IP video standards (SMPTE ST 2110) have been finalized. Years of work have led up to this point, which should prove to be a pivotal moment in the ongoing migration of media networks to use IP networking technology. Sound Devices MixPre-6 Firmware v1.20 Now Available

World-renowned pro audio equipment maker Sound Devices released firmware upgrade v1.20 for their brand new line of compact audio recorders – the MixPre Series. The two models – MixPre-6 and MixPre-3 feature integrated USB audio interface, high performance Kashmir pre-amps, and overall the recorders have been designed specifically for indie video productions. New firmware v1.20, which adds 4-channel linking on the MixPre-6 and an “input delay” feature to the MixPre-3 (this feature has already been made available on the bigger MixPre-6).

     
     
 
FUJIFILM attributes technical EMMY win for FUJINON cine zooms to cinematographers

The Optical Devices Division of FUJIFILM has been awarded an Engineering Emmy® for its FUJINON “4K Cine Zoom Lenses providing imagery in television” by the Television Academy, and will receive the honor at the Academy’s October 25 Engineering Awards ceremony at Loews Hollywood Hotel. The introduction of FUJINON’s Cabrio and Premier series of cinema zoom lenses brought about the ability to cover Super 35mm imagers and efficiently shoot the full gamut of television production without sacrificing image quality.
