Sony Airpeak S1: Sony reveals its first ever drone

Sony has revealed its long-anticipated entry into the production drone market with the announcement of the Airpeak S1. It is destined for the high end of the drone market with its base price of $9000 and payload capacity of somewhat over five pounds. We await further details but Airpeak S1 is scheduled for a Fall 2021 release.

Chyron to Power Studio Wall and On-Air Graphics for NBC Olympics

NBC Olympics, a division of the NBC Sports Group, has selected Chyron to provide real-time graphics authoring and playout solutions for its production of the Games of the XXXII Olympiad, which takes place in Tokyo, Japan, from July 23 – August 8.

Apantac Launches PTZ Camera with Built-In NDI

Apantac is launching a new PTZ camera for professional video and streaming applications that has NDI integrated into the camera. The addition of NDI, which is a Vizrt brand, means that the new 1080p PTZ camera will be recognizable as a source by other NDI-enabled applications and devices connected to a standard Ethernet local area network, making it easier to share and stream content.

AJA Delivers PAK Dock Pro

AJA Video Systems has rolled out the new compact PAK Dock Pro media reader featuring ubiquitous USB-C connectivity. With no external power supply required, the compact, plug-and-play device streamlines the transfer of Apple ProRes and Avid DNx files from AJA Ki Pro Ultra 12G digital video recorders to desktop and laptop computers on macOS and Windows operating systems. PAK Dock Pro supports the latest USB 3.2 Gen 1 standard via the USB-C connection, ensuring broad compatibility and extremely fast transfer speeds.

Calrec Audio consoles to equip NBC in the Olympic Games

Calrec has been selected by NBC as its audio console provider for the Olympic Games coverage. The company will deploy a mix of Artemis and Brio consoles as well as six RP1 remote broadcast mixing systems. The Games of the XXXII Olimpiad will take place in Tokyo in 2021 from July 23rd to August 8th, after the cancellation of last year due to the Covid pandemic.

PHABRIX adds SDI, IP standards support to Qx rasterisers. Software update v4.3 for the QxL rasteriser includes new features such as ST 2110-40 ANC Generation with Timecode and auto video format detection with configurable Auto/SDP/Override feature.

BirdDog announces PLAY, Cloud Connect & adds support for NDI 5

BirdDog has announced support for NDI 5 which was just announced across all BirdDog hardware products as well as introducing two new products PLAY and Cloud Connect.

NDI has unveiled NDI version 5.

NDI has announced NDI version 5. The new update will make it possible to connect to any device, in any location, anywhere in the world – allowing it to work with almost any video application in the world. Physical studios can connect to ones in the cloud and remote video production effectively becomes local.

MediaHub Expands Comms With RTS

MediaHub utilised the RTS Voice Over Network (RVON) technology to interconnect talkback services across multiple sites and clients to MediaHub Australia. Before the pandemic, MediaHub had been looking into replacements for the existing RTS Cronus system with Magna and had identified RTS Odin as a product which allowed a migration of on-air comms from the Cronus to the IP-based Odin. This replacement was earmarked for 2020-21, but needed to be accelerated due to Covid.

New Nine Network Studios Feature Sony Cameras

For one of the most ambitious engineering projects in its history, Australian broadcaster Nine Network deployed a variety of Sony cameras and technologies for its recently opened new studio and headquarters in North Sydney, Australia. In the new state-of-the-art facility, Sony cameras played a particularly important role and were selected based on an extensive list of technical requirements.
