Sony Professional RAID HDD (PSZ-RA4T) Review

Sony designed their line of Professional RAID HDDs to appeal to videographers in need of something that is sturdy, portable, and fast; the PSZ-RA4T addresses all of these criteria with its heavily padded enclosure, retractable handle, and Thunderbolt 2 compatibility. Sony reports that the PSZ-RA4T delivers 440MB/s, making it well suited for demanding 4K workflows. In addition to its USB 3.0, the PSZ-RA4T has two Thunderbolt 2 ports, allowing users to daisy chain up to six units together for stationary applications.

     
     
 
Panasonic announces availability of new AK-UB300 Multi-Purpose camera with simultaneous 4K and HD output

Panasonic today announced availability for its new AK-UB300 4K multi-purpose camera, designed for applications where a compact form-factor yet high-quality image is required. Ideal for broadcast and remote studios, weather and traffic reporting, remote live production, image magnification and sports, the UB300 is equipped with a one-inch MOS sensor that outputs a UHD signal up to 3840x2160/59.94p with the ability to simultaneously output HD up to 1080/59.94p.

     
     
 
Lectrosonics announced their new SR-AES3 Audio Output Adapter

Lectrosonics just announced their new SR-AES3 Audio Output Adapter, a new endplate which gives ALL SR receivers AES digital output capabilities. Fitted with a word clock port, it can be run as analog, AES digital with internal word clock (no external connection) or as AES with external word clock. Now, any SR series receiver will be capable of delivering 2-channel digital audio direct to the mixer or recorder eliminating the gain staging questions of "what should my output level be?" and "what should my input gain on my camera/mixer be?".

12 VariCam LT 4K cameras used to shoot cross country Reality Show ‘Relative Race’

Utah-based production company Lenzworks recently shot the second season of Relative Race, a co-production with broadcast partner BYUtv, with a dozen VariCam LT 4K cinema camcorders. An ingenious pairing of a race against time with a genealogy hunt, Relative Race pits four couples against each other in a race from Miami, FL to Boston, MA, with required stops along the way to complete challenges, then meet and stay with relatives they previously didn’t know existed. Training tutorials launch Brio users off the starting blocks

Calrec has launched a series of tutorial videos to demonstrate just how easy the all-new Brio console is to use, and to help Brio owners get up to speed quickly. EVS earns Emmy Award for Epsio 4K zooming technology

EVS will pick up an Emmy Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences at the 68th Annual Technology and Engineering Awards next January during CES Las Vegas. Sony introduced FS7 II with electronic variable ND, locking E-mount and higher price

Sony FS7 II is an incremental upgrade of Sony’s FS lineup, and not a replacement. The previous model FS7 will continue to be sold (in body-only form) at the existing price. The sensor and image are unchanged from the original FS7. The codec choices and the autofocus system are also the same. The FS7 II will be sold as body-only, or as a kit with the new 18-110mm f4 G cine zoom. So what’s new (except price) in the new Sony's camcorder?
