Sound Devices has announced that is has acquired UK manufacturer and developer of high-performance wireless microphone systems, Audio Ltd. The wholly-owned subsidiary of Sound Devices will continues to operate out of its Watford, UK offices with Kishore Patel and Lee Stone continuing as managing director and technical director, respectively.

     
     
 
NBC Olympics Takes Calrec to the Games

NBC Olympics, a division of the NBC Sports Group, has selected Calrec Audio equipment for its production of the XXIII Olympic Winter Games, which take place in PyeongChang, South Korea, which kicked off last night and runs through February 25.

     
     
 
Belden/Grass Valley Acquires Snell Advanced Media

Belden has completed the acquisition of Snell Advanced Media (SAM). Terms of the deal have not been disclosed, but SAM will be incorporated into Grass Valley. The company will be led by Tim Shoulders with the headquarters based in Montreal. Grass Valley said many of SAM's product brands will be retained, although full details are yet to be determined.

Sony Venice to ship with “Dual Base ISO” mode and built-in 8-step optical ND filter

Sony has made a few last minute changes to the VENICE just before the camera starts to ship. New capabilities include a “Dual Base ISO” mode. Along with the previously announced native ISO of 500, Sony has added an additional 2500 ISO base as well. VENICE will also benefit from the unique addition of a built-in 8-step optical ND filter servo mechanism.
