Canon launches world’s widest 2/3” 4K portable broadcast lens – the CJ12ex4.3B

Canon unveils the CJ12ex4.3B, a new 2/3” portable 4K zoom lens with the world’s widest focal length. At an incredible 4.3mm it is designed for professionals shooting interviews and live broadcast, including sports and news.

     
     
 
Vocas tophandle, viewfinder extension bracket and cheeseplate for Canon C300 MKII

The Canon C300 mkII isn’t available yet, but that hasn’t stopped rig makers from rushing to announce new accessories for it. Dutch firm Vocas have chosen to offer their own cheeseplate to replace the Canon top helmet that comes as standard with the camera.

     
     
 
Discovery Networks Denmark expands with EVS

EVS, working with equipment supplier Danmon Denmark, has installed new solutions to Discovery Network Denmark to expand the EVS workflow already in place. The broadcaster has implemented a new XT3 live production server, Xedio CleanEdit and router control functionalities to the existing IPDirector PAM system for the production of the network’s sports shows.

VER Purchase 50 Sony 2/3-inch HDC-4300 4K Camera Systems

Video Equipment Rentals (“VER”), a leading, global provider of production equipment and engineering support, today announced it has ordered 50 Sony HDC-4300 camera systems. Sony’s HDC-4300 is the world’s first camera to use three 2/3-inch native 4K image sensors. The new camera – the next generation of HDC series camera technology – lets operators use the vast array of 2/3” ENG and high magnification and long zoom range box lenses currently used by HD 2/3-inch systems while maintaining an angle of view and depth of field that sports producers are accustomed to. The system allows the capture of premium 4K or HD images, as well as up to 8x high frame rate.

     
     
 
Europe's first UHD OB truck has Calrec on board

Outside broadcast and post provider Timeline Television has installed a Calrec console in UHD1, Europe's first 4K/UHD OB truck. Timeline built the truck primarily to provide content for BT Sport, which launched Europe's first live sports UHD channel on August 1st.

     
     
 
Panasonic's Varicam 35 4k Camera Imager To Receive Hollywood Post Alliance Engineering Excellence Award

The Hollywood Post Alliance® (HPA) has announced that Panasonic is a recipient of the organization's 2015 Engineering Excellence Award for the company's development of the 4K camera imager in its VariCam 35 4K camera/recorder. The coveted honor will be bestowed on November 12, 2015 during the tenth annual HPA Awards gala at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, CA.

     
     
 
Wireless live streaming capability unlocked by Sony

Sony has today announced new functionality that will allow newsgatherers to wirelessly stream live footage directly from cameras as they shoot, in a move set to radically speed up production workflows. Building on Sony’s wireless technology, several of the PXW-series XDCAM camcorders 1 will now be capable of streaming footage live, while Sony’s CBK-serieswireless adapters 2 will be able to unlock live streaming for any camera with an SDI connection.

     
     
 
ATEME and Fox Develop UHD HDR Video for Home Viewing

ATEME and Twentieth Century Fox have worked on development of the TITAN Software Transcoder to enable distribution of some of the first movies for home viewing in Ultra HD with High Dynamic Range, beginning on 18 July.
